10 Tips for Hassle-Free Business Travel

10 Tips for Hassle-Free Business Travel

If you're a road warrior, these travel tips will help reduce the stress of your journeys.

1. Choose your Travel Modality Wisely

By Air, By trains or By Road: What's the choice to be? While air travel is clearly the only way to go for long journeys, shorter trips of a couple of hundred miles might be faster via train, bus or auto. When making your decision, consider time thats being spent traveling to and fro airports, plus time spent lining up for check in, security and departure. Also consider the effects inclement weather can have on your travel choice. It's no fun hearing the announcement that your plane can't land due to poor visibility and you'll be returning to your
departure airport.

2. Consider Alternative Airports

If you're flying, consider alternative airports that are outside the city you're going to visit. As a rule, these airports have fewer flights, less overbooking and less delays than their larger counterparts.

3. Obtain an International Drivers License

If traveling outside your own country, an international driver's license will be more readily recognized than your locally issued driver's license. The cost is not prohibitive and in most regions, the licenses are easily obtained by showing your local driver's license. Inquire at your local Automobile Association.

4. Get Paper Maps / Update mobile Map Apps

Travel can be less stressful if you know how to get around. Before leaving home, obtain paper maps of your destination city in case of GPS not working, paper maps can be vital. Its must to keep all your maps app updated with latest version. If possible, Save all the travelling routes for ofline viewing when there is poor network.

5. Carry Digital Documents & avoid Hard Copies

Instead of carrying heavy stacks of brochures or sales letters, use digital docs saved on smart device /cloud platforms and get them printed as and when needed. Similarly, if you are working a booth in a trade show, it's a good idea to carry electronic documents in case you run out of the stack you shipped from the office.

6. Opt Hotels that Cater to Business Travelers & avoid leasure resorts

There are some Hotels dedicated to cater business travelers. They have state of the art facilities for business such as equipped conference rooms, Internet access, Video conferencing units, projectors etc.. installed. This will leave major impact on your business & have hassle-free business discussion over trips across locations.

7. Mobile chargers and Converters

If you're traveling to a foreign country, remember that you might need special voltage adaptors for electricity. You might also need plug adapters to accommodate electrical devies & chargers. These days for mobile/ smart devices charging purpose International travel adapters / converters are also available. A good travel store / website will help you decide what's needed.

8. Use Calling SIM / Free Chatting Apps

When you're staying at a hotel, the phone / mobile bill can be a major expense. The cost of calling back home can be humongous, Get local cheap SIM from local shops or its always advisable to use free chatting / calling apps like WhatsApp, FB Messenger, hike etc... for communication.

9. Check your Cellular Service

Cellular phone companies regularly offer new rates. Check to be sure you're getting the best deal -- some now include long distance charges in the monthly fee. If your business travel will take you to small, out-of-the way towns, your digital phone might not work. You will need an analog or dual digital/analog phone for such trips.

10. Protect Yourself Against Theft

Before leaving home, make copies of your travel documents (passport, airline tickets, travel insurance, credit cards and itinerary). Take copies with you and leave a copy with a contact at home. Take special precautions for your gadgets, valuables, belongings. See what your local travel store has to offer in terms of protective luggage. You can purchase laptop / gadget cases that disguise the fact that they're used for laptops, or laptop cases that look old and battered. And off-course Feature Articles, you already know how fast and savvy a pickpocket can be. Avoid carrying
important documents in your purse or hip pocket.

African Safari - Enchanting Wildlife

African Safari - Enchanting Wildlife

One of the main reasons why people travel to Africa is to see the Big Five - the African lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, African leopard, and the White/Black rhinoceros.

However, one of the most frequently asked questions we get is which destination offers the best chance to see all five species?

To answer this question, You got to explore African safari by all means.

The Sabi Sand Game Reserves are stunning and popular of course, as are places like the Okavango Delta, the Serengeti, Moremi, Masai Mara and Chobe to name just a few of the more well-known destinations.

There are places like MalaMala and Londolozi in the Sabi Sand where Big Five sightings are almost guaranteed as is the case in KwaZulu Natal at Phinda and Madikwe Game Reserve in North West Province.

These destinations are somewhat pricey though and if you are looking for something a little more affordable then there is nothing wrong with Kruger, Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park or Mkhuze.

If I had to choose one out of all of these I think it would be MalaMala but if the price was an issue then I would go with Mkhuze - visit in July, August or September.

Thats all about Africa...Lets hit the Jungle now

Jeita Grotto – Lebanon

Amazing Natural Wonders

The Jeita grotto is two separate but interconnected limestone caves spanning an overall length of 9 km. The caves are situated in the Nahr-Al-Kalb valley within the locality of Jeita, 18km north of Beirut. Though inhabited in prehistoric times, the lower cave was not discovered until 1836 by Rev. William Thompson. It can be visited by boat & its channels and Underground River provides fresh drinking water to more than million Lebanese. In 1958, Lebanese speleologists discovered the upper galleries 60m above the lower cave which have been accommodated with an access tunnel and a series of walkways to enable tourist’s safe access without disturbing the natural landscape. The upper galleries house the world’s largest stalactite. The galleries are composed of series of chambers the largest of which peaks at a height of 120m. Jeita Grotto plays a vital socio-economic & cultural role. It’s a finalist in the new 7 Wonders of Nature competition.

The Jeita upper cave has an overall length of 2130m of which 750m are accessible to visitors via specially conceived walkway; access to the remainder of the cave is restricted to prevent ecological damage which may occur due to flocking tourists. The upper cave consist a great concentration of a variety of crystallized formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, columns, mushrooms, ponds, curtains & draperies. The upper gallery is famous for its formations, lit by effective lighting systems. It is entered through 117m long concrete tunnel. The part accessible by visitors has three huge chambers. First white chamber second is Red due to the color of formations. White dripstones are pure calcite without defilement; the red color is given by red oxide in small amount. The white chamber is medium sized, but has the most impressive formations of the cave; the Red chamber is 106 m high & 30-50m wide. The third chamber is biggest of all the threes &has a height of almost 120m. the longest stalactite in the world is located in jeita’s white chamber; measures 8.2m

The lower gallery which has an overall length of 6200m is located 60m below upper gallery. It is traversed by smooth underwater river & lake (the “Dark Lake”). The river is broken up by several small cataracts & rapids. The lower cave’s “Thompson’s Cavern” is a massive hall with a impressive speleothemes such as Eagle Obelisk stalagmite. Other halls in the lower gallery include Pantheon , grand chaos, & Shangri-La. Visitors are transported in lower gallery by electric boats for a distance of 500m. in winter the lower level is closed, when water level is too high.

In 1961, Jeita became national symbol when Lebanese authorities issued a stamp to promote tourism.

Dead Sea - Jorden

Amazing Natural Wonders,

Dead Sea is a salt late between the West Bank / Palestine / Israel to the west & Jordan to the East. At 420 meters below sea level, its shores are the lowest points on the earth that are on dry land. With 30% salinity. It is 8.6 times saltier than ocean. The salinity makes harsh environment where animals cannot flourish; hence it’s name. it is 67 Km long & 18km wide at widest points. It lies in the Jordan Rift valley & it’s main tributary is the Jordan River.

The Dead Sea has attracted visitors from around the globe for thousands of years. Biblically, it was a place of refuge for King David. It was one of the world’s first health resorts (for Herod the great), & it has been the supplier of wide variety of products; from balms for Egyptian mummification to potash for fertilizers. People also used salt & minerals from Dead Sea to create cosmetics & herbal sachets.
The Dead Sea’s climate offers year-round sunny skies & dry air with low pollution. It has very minimal rainfall & the temp. avgas .somewhere between 32-39 Celsius in summer & 20-23 Celsius in winter. The region has weakened ultraviolet radiation, particularly the UVB (erythrogenic rays ),  an atmosphere characterized by high oxygen content due to the high barometric pressure.

The dead sea has become major center for health research & treatment for several reasons.  The mineral content of the water, the very low content of pollens and other allergens in the atmosphere, the reduced UV component of solar radiation, & the higher atmospheric pressure at this great depth each have specific health effects. E.g. persons suffering reduced respiratory functions from diseases such as cystic fibrosis seem to benefit from the increased atmospheric pressure.

Sufferers of the skin disorder psoriasis also benefit from the ability to sunbathe for long period in the area due its positions below sea level & subsequent result that many of the sun’s harmful UV rays are reduced.  Thus, the region’s climate & low elevation have made it popular center for therapies mentioned below :
Climatotherapy :  Treatment which exploits local climatic features such as temperature, humidity, sunshine, barometric pressure.

Heliotherapy : Treatment that exploits biological effects of sun’s radiation.

Thalassotherapy : Treatment that exploits bathing in Dead Sea Water.

Due to the popularity therapeutic & healing properties several companies have also shown interest in manufacturing & supplying dead sea salt as raw material for body & skin care products.
